Stay at home Dads
Being a stay at home Dad is something that is no longer rare. Many new fathers are staying at home whilst their partners go out to work and this is something to be celebrated as an indicator of the change in the modern world. Stay at home parenting is a full time job regardless of sex, with more and more parents trying to work from home or work part time so that they can spend more time with their children. The job is by no means easy so here are some top tips to help you out.
RoutineGetting your children into a routine will make things a lot easier for them and you. Children need consistency so forming a routine early on will ensure that the day to day running of the house runs smoothly and effectively. It is important that you stick to roughly the same times for meals, bathing and bed so that your children understand what is going on around them. A break from routine can cause confusion and frustration in children so try to stick to it where possible.
This rule also applies for discipline. You must be consistent in the way you discipline your children, if this alters it will confuse a child and they may recognise any weaknesses and play to them. You must be in control of situations and stick to standard rules, never allow one rule for one and another rule for the other.
ActivitiesRoutine is vitally important, as explained above, but this does not mean slipping into a routine with the same activities every day. Variation is the key and where possible you should try to vary what your children are doing on a day to day basis. This is particularly important for young children as they need do stimulating and educational activities. Where possible, take your children outdoors, there are plenty of places to take children, don’t just stick to the play park, try to visit different places such as farms and educational museums.
Do things for YOUA problem that can happen is becoming totally consumed by your children. It is important to maintain a life outside of your family home, this means socialising and having hobbies. You need to have interaction with adults and be yourself, rather than just being ‘dad’ all of the time. Many dads still enjoy sports and have a family life, so you can too. You might also like to have a gamble now and then with online betting.
Enjoy itLastly, no one can possibly be a perfect parent, you will make mistakes but that is part of the process. Enjoy your time with your children because before you know it, being a stay at home Dad will be a previous occupation that you enjoyed while you had it.
